    Code of Practice

FPA Australia has recently revised the Code of Practice, launching the new version on 28 August 2008 at Parliament House in Canberra. The new Code of Practice has been written to suit the entire fire protection industry, and is more directive than the previous version, encouraging members to abide by existing regulations and legislation where they apply.

    Maintaining Signatory Status

The launch of the new Code of Practice affects all Corporate Members who are signatories to the existing Code. To maintain signatory status, Corporate Members are required to become a signatory to the new Code of Practice. This will give you "Code Compliant Status" and will enable your company to use the Code Compliant logo in line with the Guidelines.

    Self-Assessment

The new Code of Practice entails more than the old one: a Self-Assessment process is being introduced which will require every Corporate Member to carry out a self-assessment at least once every 5 years. New members will be required to carry out the self-assessment within the first 3 months of membership. The Self-Assessment process is currently being road-tested and the documents will be available shortly.
